Caroline’s Baby Shower

This is slightly delayed, but the summer got busy and I never got around to recapping Caroline’s baby shower. I consider myself so lucky that I have such a great group of college girlfriends that is still so close today. We all got together back May to celebrate Caroline the first baby the only way we know how: a weekend-long celebration. We even invited all of our moms to join in on the fun!

One of my favorite parts of the weekend was getting to design the shower with the help of my best friend, Martha Collins. Martha is the Tri Delta house mother, and graciously offered to let us host the shower at her home, fondly referred to as 1509. Martha worked as an event planner for many years before her gig at Tri Delt, and I am so grateful for her. I’ve learned so much from her over the years— to always wear your lipstick, to learning how to tell when someone is feeding you “bull-titty.”

The shower was so beautiful! Someone walked by the house on their morning stroll while I was setting up the champagne and said that it “looked like something out of Southern Living.” I don’t think there’s a higher compliment than that!

We kept the food pretty simple: cheese and crudités board, Captain Rodney’s dip, fresh fruit, chicken salad and pimento cheese sandwiches, smoked salmon cream cheese bites, and of course, cake and iced cookies. I have always felt like the best parties serve food that makes it easy to eat and socialize at the same time.

One of my favorite details of the day were the buttons that we ordered reading “Baby Tripp Loves the Rebs!” If you’re familiar with Ole Miss and the Grove, you know that a staple on gameday is stickers indicating your sorority, the Alumni association, your favorite tent— you name it. A company out of Atlanta, Thanks for Everything, worked with my friend Rachel to get these made. She does all kind of buttons for SEC schools across the South, but you can also work with Mary to make custom buttons for bachelorette parties or really any event that you can think of.

The best part of the weekend was getting to reunite with dear friends and celebrate Caroline and Baby Tripp. A baby is such a blessing, and I already know that Caroline is going to be the best mom in the world. Tripp made his appearance into the world just about a month after the shower, on June 30, 2021— the same day as Caroline’s mother’s birthday. Doesn’t that just give you chills? I can’t think of a better birthday gift. Tripp weighed 6 pounds and 14 ounces, measured 20 inches long, and is 100% angelic. Tripp, all of your aunties love you and cannot wait to meet you!
