Friday Favorites
I never really gave these type of posts and type of grand introduction. There’s nothing really special about Friday other than it’s the beginning of the weekend! This might be the last post like this for a while because I just started on a journey of a “no spend summer,” meaning that I won’t be buying anything other than literal necessities until August 6th. My childhood best friend, Anna, turned me onto a sustainability blogger named Lauren (her TikTok is amazing) who inspires me to be more eco-friendly and conscious of my global and carbon footprint. Taking a note out of her book, I thought this summer would be a great time to cut back on my spending and my consumption. From now until August, I won’t be buying fun/new clothes, makeup, skincare, really anything other than things that are absolute necessities, like groceries and toiletries that I use everyday. I am also limiting my eating and drinking out (other than when being social requires it, ok!! I said limiting!!) and am totally eliminating my cherished Sonic and Starbucks runs. More than anything, I think this will be a really fun experiment to “shop my closet” and avoid buying things I don’t need. Cetaphil Redness Relieving Daily Facial Moisturizer
Alright, so TikTok influenced me on this— I wish I could find the original creator and tag them. Apparently this moisturizer is just as good as wearing foundation because it neutralizes the redness from your skin. I thought it would be too good to be true, but for under $15 it was worth the purchase to find out. I am a BIG fan of this. I am pretty minimal when it comes to makeup, so I’ve found that I can apply this with a beauty blender and wear it as foundation. I’m a big fan!! I have been obsessed with this one for a while (and have repurchased!) I love the natural brow look— like not really stenciled on, but rather just touched up enough based on their natural shape for them to look full. I am dying to get my hair lightened up again (I used to get lighter balayage in my hair— the last time I went was right before COVID…) but just haven’t bothered to make an appointment. I was in Ulta and saw this gloss and had to try it out. I used the shade “Smoky Topaz.” It was super easy to use and I feel like made my hair look alive without being drastic. The debate lives on between millennials and Gen Z: straight leg or skinny jeans?? Skinny jeans will always have a place in my heart, but I think straight leg gets my vote after trying this pair from Old Navy. It’s getting a little warm in Mississippi to be wearing these, but I’ve gotten some questions about them so I wanted to share. You can’t beat the price, and they are the perfect pair of joggers. I’ve dressed them up for going out for drinks, and also worn them to school and out for errands.
