Mother’s Day Gift Guide

“Mother’s Day is every day!” This is what my dad used to bark at me and my sister whenever we would ask him what we should get mom for Mother’s Day. In all fairness, he isn’t wrong— we should love and celebrate our mother’s everyday! They birthed us, raised us, loved and continue to love us. (Cue this song by Kacey Musgraves that makes me cry EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.) I put Mother’s Day in the same category as Valentine’s Day: you don’t have to think it’s the greatest or most important holiday, but a simple gesture to appreciate those that you love goes a long way. My mom isn’t cheesy, but she always appreciated being recognized- on Mother’s Day and on random Tuesdays.

I’ve compiled a little list of gifts that might be perfect for your mom, mother-in-law, grandmother, or mother figure. These vary in price and type, but a little something to show that you care is perfect. Let your main takeaway from this be that if possible, all your mother really wants is to spend some time with you. A candle or pair of pajamas won’t replace that, but everyone likes to be recognized and appreciated.

To all the moms— we love you!

  1. Desk Calendar- This precious desk calendar from Honey Bear Pages on Etsy is perfectly on trend, featuring blue chinoiserie watercolors. The $40 set comes with the stand for the calendar, too! Their whole page on Etsy has the cutest things.

  2. Lake Pajamas- I’ve been a huge fan of PJ Harlow for years, but I just ordered a pair of Lake pajamas during their annual sale and I’m obsessed. It’s like sleeping in your favorite soft t-shirt, only cuter. I have this long-sleeve Pima shorts set and this weekend shorts set, but have my eyes on this short-sleeve set and this ROBE (heart eyes).

  3. Nest candles and Pura Wall Diffuser - These are some of my favorite fragrances. They’re pricy, but they’re potent enough to fragrance a whole room! My favorite scents are the classic Bamboo (light, fresh, reminds me of cut grass and fresh laundry) and Sicilian Tangerine (citrus and tangy). You can find them online, sometimes at Nordstrom Rack on sale. If you’re local to Oxford, my friends at Provision Oxford have a great selection! The Pura diffuser is amazing, too! Nest sells the device in a set with both a Bamboo and Grapefruit scent which is a GREAT deal.

  4. Staggered Bud Vase- These are so cute and perfect for just a handful of flowers.

  5. Vivian Drew earrings- Haley designed all of my bridesmaids’ earrings for my wedding! She is so talented and creates the most beautiful earrings.

  6. Le Creuset- I absolutely love my Le Creuset cookwear so much! If your mom or mother-in-law loves to be in the kitchen, this is a fun brand to introduce her to. I’ve heard great things about this skillet. The classic dutch oven is one of my favorite pieces, just pricey— but if you have a big family with lots of siblings, it might be fun to go in on it together!
Side note- If you like the style of the dutch oven, this one is way more affordable. I got these for my mom and mother-in-law for Christmas and they’re big fans!

  7. Birdies shoes - These my be my favorite pair of shoes that I own! I had been talking about them for so long and William surprised me with them during COVID lockdown. The hype is real: they’re super cute flats that are as comfortable as a pair of slippers. If you’re between sizes, I would size up! I usually wear an 8.5 and I have a size 9 in my Birdies. I’ve linked the pair that I have, which is their classic Sterling flat in the color Latte, but there are so many options, including slides, their new line of sneakers, etc.

  8. The Ordinary skincare products- My friend Lynette is my skincare guru and just helped me pick out a whole new face regimen from The Ordinary— which totaled to about $30! If you know enough about your mom’s skin-type, you could do the same! I love the Niacinamide, Glycolic Acid toner, and the Retinol. In the same line of thinking, a gift certificate for a facial from a day-spa is a great idea, too!

  9. Coffeetable books- Home with Hechart is a mother-daughter owned brand that has the most beautiful assortment of gifts and furniture. They have a great selection of coffee table books! One of these with a set of cute cocktail napkins or a bouquet of flowers would be a beautiful and thoughtful gift.

  10. Pedicures with mom- This isn’t anything I can necessarily link to, but sometimes the best gifts are spending time together. My mom, sister, and I love to get pedicures together!
